Kris took inspiration for this painting from a photograph of a Cassowary that he took at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. The Cassowary, a bird that is usually seen as scary and not too bright, is one of the most important animals to the survival of Australia's rainforests. Without this endangered bird there wouldn't be another that is efficient at spreading seeds, fostering the growth of our beautiful rainforests.
