THREE BLUE FISH 2

Three Blue Fish reimagines the shimmer and vitality of reef life within a quiet domestic setting. Inside a clear glass vase, three luminous blue fish circle the roots of a growing water plant, their sparkling forms suspended in an imagined world of light and reflection. The transparent vessel becomes both window and stage, holding movement, colour and wonder within its curved edges.

Cast against the wall behind, the vase throws a soft shadow and radiant glow, extending the painting beyond the object itself. In response to the exhibition theme Illuminate, the work explores how light transforms ordinary spaces, turning glass, water and shadow into something almost magical.

Created through imagination rather than captivity, the fish remain symbols of freedom and memory, inspired by the artist’s experience of seeing them in their natural coral habitat. The painting becomes a gentle meditation on beauty, light, and the desire to honour nature without confining it.
